Thank you for supporting Cobble Hill Collective and helping us keep local news alive! Notes like this one make our day 💛

Here’s what’s happening this week:

✨ Local Happenings and New Openings ✨

I don’t know what it is about skeletons, but they always make me smile, especially when I spot them hanging out on neighborhood stoops this time of year! 🎃 If you’re looking to get into the Halloween spirit, our Spooky Season Guide has plenty of festive happenings for all ages, with more being added throughout October.

  • Just in time for spooky season, a neighborhood landmark is coming back to life! The historic firehouse at 299 DeGraw Street is undergoing a $17.8 million renovation to transform the building into a permanent home for the Noel Pointer Foundation, bringing music education and new energy to the neighborhood.

  • Roebling Rink Returns to Brooklyn Bridge Park! They’ll be back for another season of winter fun, opening November 14 and running through January 31, 2027. Tickets and additional details will be announced soon!

  • NYC DOT is installing two new bus boarding islands along Jay Street as part of ongoing road resurfacing. The upgrades aim to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, reduce bus delays, and make boarding easier for commuters. Construction is already in progress, with temporary bus stop changes in effect.

  • The MTA is bringing modern fare gates to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station as part of a citywide upgrade aimed at improving accessibility, easing passenger flow, and reducing fare evasion.

Is it just me, or is October flying by? I feel like I just swapped my tees for striped long sleeves, and somehow we’re already halfway through the month!

There’s still so much fall fun ahead, though! I’m especially excited about the Halloween candle-making workshop at ORAYA and seeing all the creative decorations popping up around Brooklyn. Don’t forget to submit your favorite spooky stoops for our Halloween map which just went live!

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Shannon
