Here’s what’s happening this week:

✨ Local Happenings and New Openings ✨

  • As we reported back in March, Bathhouse is opening a new location at 540 Atlantic Avenue (near 3rd Avenue) - the opening is confirmed for this Saturday May 16, bringing its signature mix of thermal pools, saunas, and spa treatments to Boerum Hill. The fast-growing NYC concept (with locations in Williamsburg and Flatiron) is continuing its expansion with this large-scale Brooklyn space. Bookings are now open on their website with day passes starting at $29!

  • Tavern Next Door Now Open! After acquiring the space next door to Red Hook Tavern last year, Billy Durney has officially opened this new cocktail lounge inspired by a wild night in Paris. Led by @conorscocktails, the menu features reinvented disco-era cocktails, elevated bar snacks, and yes, a version of the legendary Red Hook Tavern burger. The bar is reserved for walk-ins and you can snag table reservations on OpenTable.

  • Local Business owner Pooja Bavishi, founder of Malai and their Brooklyn Heights scoop shop, recently spoke about building her beloved ice cream brand through flavors inspired by her South Asian upbringing. In the interview, she reflects on authenticity, creativity, and how flavors like rose, saffron, pistachio, and masala chai helped redefine what American ice cream can look like. As she prepares to expand her ice cream company, we love this thoughtful read on creativity, culture, and the evolution of a local business with roots right here in the neighborhood.

  • Grand Army debuts a seasonal menu inspired by classic mall food court nostalgia, complete with playful references to spots like Auntie Anne’s and Hot Topic. We can’t wait to check out this revamped lineup, including new cocktails and updated food offerings, bringing a cheeky, retro-themed twist.

  • Seven Wonders Collective recently opened at 398 Atlantic Avenue, bringing a curated mix of vintage fashion and globally sourced finds to Cobble Hill. The new shop features pieces from more than 36 vendors, ranging from timeless wardrobe staples to one-of-a-kind statement pieces. We’re excited to see another destination to the neighborhood’s growing vintage scene.

Tavern Next Door might be my first stop this weekend. I’m curious to see which disco era cocktail ends up becoming everyone’s favorite.
