Caputo’s closes in Carroll Gardens, plus a new Coastal Indian Spot and DUMBO after dark
We're sharing neighborhood openings, events, happenings and more.
Here’s what’s happening this week:
✨ Local Happenings and New Openings ✨
A true Carroll Gardens institution has closed its doors. Caputo’s, the beloved family run bakery known for its bread and Italian cookies, served its final loaf this week after generations in the neighborhood. More than just a shop, it was a piece of local history and community fabric, making this loss especially felt. Andrea Strong shares a look at what this moment means for the neighborhood.
DUMBO Projection Project returns this May with a month long interactive art installation beneath the Manhattan Bridge and along the BQE in Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Steward Park. This year’s edition invites viewers to take part in the experience, with video works that respond to movement, light, and the surrounding space.
Dinah’s soft opening kicked off this past weekend with an open house, free bagels and lots of coffee. We cannot wait to be back as they get ready to announce their official full day of service. Follow along here for updates. They’re hiring - see our Neighborhood Job Board below for roles!
