The city’s tallest subway station: Smith-9th Street in Gowanus is finally getting elevators! Rising 90 feet above ground with no efficient escalators, accessibility has long been a challenge at this stop, making this a welcome and much-needed upgrade. Read more in the Brooklyn Paper here.
Restaurant Week is almost over, make the res now! We recently checked out the Bar56 Restaurant Week menu and posted a review below. Movies With A View: Trainwreck @ Brooklyn Bridge Park, (6:00pm-10:30pm): Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Movies With A View series continues tonight with Trainwreck, a romantic comedy written by and starring Brooklyn native Amy Schumer. Directed by Judd Apatow, this witty, award-winning film blends laugh-out-loud moments with an unexpectedly sweet love story. The lawn opens at 6:00 PM (first come, first serve), with the movie starting at sunset.

Book Talk & Nature Walk with Ryan F. Mandelbaum (author of Wild NYC) @ Books Are Magic 122 Montague St. (6:00pm-7:00pm)*: Discover the wild side of our city with naturalist Ryan Mandelbaum in a special book talk and guided nature walk. The tour begins at the Montague Street Books Are Magic store and end Brooklyn Bridge Park. Learn about the surprising plants and animals that call our neighborhood home. Tickets here.
Queer Yoga @ GTHR Yoga (7:00pm)*: Queer Yoga is back at GTHR with a 60-minute all-levels practice, followed by NA bevvies and socializing. All identities and expressions are welcome, details on how to reserve your spot here.

Hindu Lamp Ceremony @ Brooklyn Bridge Park Pebble Beach (4:00pm-7:30pm): Dance artist and educator Aeilushi Mistry leads the 13th annual Hindu Lamp Ceremony to honor the river with gratitude, reflection and rememberance. You’ll have the opportunity to decorate palm leaf lamps and release them into the East River. FREE.
August Getdown: Herbert Holler’s Freedom Party Outside @ Brooklyn Bridge Park (6:00pm-10:00pm): Don’t miss out on BBP’s last dance party of the season at this free, all ages event.
