World Cup Fever in the Neighborhood! Restaurants and bars across the neighborhood were packed over the weekend as fans gathered to watch the World Cup together. This was the scene outside Bar Tabac during Saturday’s game.
Formerly Claw Daddy's, Surf n’ Chicks is the newly rebranded spot is serving up seafood favorites like oysters, shrimp, and boils alongside crispy fried chicken and classic comfort sides.
Shania’s Max Bet Coming Soon! Promising cocktails, late-night hours and the motto “You can’t lose all the time,” the team has started teasing the opening. Keep an eye on our sister account Park Slope Pulse for more updates as the opening approaches.
Artist Open Call at Saturn Road! They’re accepting submissions for its upcoming fall exhibition, A Woman's Work: The Art of Womanhood. Women artists are invited to apply, whether they’re emerging or established. Applications are open through August 16, with the exhibition running September 7–November 13. Apply here.
Opening a small business in NYC could soon get easier - the city has announced more than 50 proposed reforms aimed at cutting red tape and reducing unnecessary fines. The plans include dedicated case managers for new business owners, streamlined requirements for barbershops and childcare providers and the elimination of some outdated restaurant permits.

Extra Sauce: An evening of food tasting with Zahra Tangorra @ Liz’s Book Bar (6:30-8:00pm)*: Join chef and author Zahra Tangorra for an evening of conversation, audience Q&A, and a tasting menu inspired by her new memoir, The Good, the Bad, and the Onions. Pokémon Day Out @ Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6 (July 24-26): Celebrate 30 years of Pokémon with a free, family-friendly event featuring games, activities, interactive experiences, and plenty of surprises for fans of all ages. Admission is free, but advance reservations are strongly encouraged, with walk-ups welcome as space allows.

Brooklyn Americana Music @ Pier 3 Greenway Terrace (7:00pm-9:00pm): Enjoy an evening of live music and waterfront views for a free sunset concert featuring jazz and Americana artists. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic, and settle in for performances by local and international musicians.
Jerry Pepper’s Pop-up @ Strong Rope Brewery (2:00pm-dark): Their one-day pop-up at Strong Rope Brewery will serve burgers, their new Pepper's Dog, and vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Kick off the weekend with burgers, beer and great views!
Saturday, July 25:
Kids & Grownups Creature Cups - Pottery Workshop @ Still life (10:30am)*: In this workshop kids and their grown ups will learn the basics of ceramic handbuilding while creating their very own functional creature cups! Purchase tickets here.

Volunteer Opportunity: Street Cleanup with District 39 (9:45am-11:00am): Join a community street cleanup, meeting at the corner of Nevins Street and Carroll Street. You’ll help pick up litter with your neighbors. Gloves, trash pickers, and bags will be provided, and all are welcome. Reserve your spot.
