Where Brooklyn Kids Code, Build Robots, and Bring Ideas to Life
Sponsored by MakeInspires
Parents say there’s nothing else like it in Brooklyn. MakeInspires is a purpose-built makerspace where children don’t just learn about science, technology, engineering, art, and math. They build with it, using real tools, from 3D printers to woodworking equipment, to make things that are genuinely their own.
And for Cobble Hill families, it’s right nearby: in Gowanus/Carroll Gardens at 230 Huntington St.
Summer at MakeInspires
Twelve weekly sessions run from June 15 through September 9, for ages 5 to 15, with a maximum of seven campers per instructor. Every week rotates through seven core STEAM subjects with fresh projects, so a child can come for one week or ten and always find something new to build:
Robotics — go from motors and sensors to robots that actually do a job.
3D Printing — sketch ideas in TinkerCAD and print take-home objects every week.
Video Game Design — design, test, and share a real game using block-based code.
Rocketry — build it, launch it, recover it.
Engineering — solve real problems with cardboard, hardware, and a lot of iteration.
Stop-Motion Animation — finish the week with a short film of your child’s own.
Minecraft — build and mod in educator-mode with tools the home version doesn’t have.
Full-day campers can also add optional Expert Week deep-dives in specialties like drones, woodworking, Roblox development, and more. Choose AM half-day, PM half-day, or full day.
Summer camps are filling now. Take a look and reserve your child’s place.

Looking Ahead to Fall
Fall semester registration is also live. If you’d like your child to keep building and learning once school is back in session, weekly classes are a great fit for the school-year routine. Browse fall semester classes here.
Why Brooklyn Families Choose MakeInspires
Children learn by doing! Small class sizes. Expert instructors. Genuine curiosity. Join a welcoming community of local families who want more for their children than another screen. Every project is designed to build confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills that last well beyond the classroom.
Founded in 2011, MakeInspires has grown to five locations across the New York area. With 60+ original programs of its own, it’s empowered more than 20,000 children to discover what they love and build the skills to pursue it.
Nearly all families return for a second experience, and graduates consistently report gains in confidence, patience, and problem-solving. Many go on to STEM internships, higher education, and careers. One former student’s early curiosity at MakeInspires led all the way to a PhD candidacy at MIT. See more student journeys here.
