Winter doesn’t have to be boring. We’re fully committed to keeping weekends warm, slow, and genuinely comforting. This is our curated cozy day wandering through Carroll Gardens.

Start the day off right

Begin with a little movement to set the tone. District Gym is a neighborhood favorite with something for everyone, and their Cellar Wellness studio is especially worth checking out. It blends red light therapy with intentional movement, which feels like the perfect winter reset. Even if you’re not a member, you can still drop into classes ranging from HIIT to yoga—and the brownstone setting makes it feel extra inviting.

After you’ve worked up an appetite, Carroll Gardens has no shortage of cozy spots to fuel up. Court Street Grocers is one of our top picks, thanks to their stacked, creative sandwiches (the chorizo, egg, and salsa verde is a standout), plus a great lineup of baked goods and coffee.

Other breakfast favorites to try: Cafe Noire, Nili, Breakfast by Salt’s Cure, and Mister Cheeks.

Where to shop…

Carroll Gardens has no shortage of thoughtfully curated local shops, which makes afternoon browsing feel effortless. Here are a few of our favorites to pop into while you wander:

  • Painted Swan: A charming home decor shop with a mix of vintage finds and fresh new pieces.

  • Mexico in My Pocket: A colorful gift shop packed with Mexican-made goods and travel-inspired treasures.

  • Yesterday’s News Antiques: Classic antique store full of vintage pieces, mid-century furniture, collectibles, and just about anything else you can imagine.
